Further Than Fate eBook Brian Fatah Steele

Great collection of novellas. The reader will know what's in store within the first few pages, the author talks a little about each story in the opening acknowledgements. The stories themselves aren't excessively gory or violent. They are dark though, but not without elements of humor. Id recommend this book to anyone into Clive Barker, Stephen King, etc. My first read by Mr. Steele, definitely not gonna be my last.

Further Than Fate eBook Brian Fatah Steele Reviews

This is a collection of short stories and novellas from Brian Fatah Steele. His work is largely post-mythic dark fantasy like Clive Barker. This is a great collection of stories that really highlights his unique style and voice.

If you are unfamiliar with Steele's work I suggest this as a good introduction. My personal favorite 'Far House, Deep House' was included in this collection (though it is also available on as a standalone) and it really sets the tone for his writing; thoughtful, dark, and humorous.

There were a few rough places where a couple stories dragged a little. Particularly in 'The Stitching' for me there were places that were just unpolished (maybe, idk). Brian however usually updates and edits his work fairly often--for example this 'Far House' was different from even the version I had read originally--so it is entirely possible he will update or edit it more later.

My only real complaint was that each story was set in its own universe. To me it seemed like each one nearly fit into the other. I would love to see this as an expanded universe with each story tying into the one before it.

That however is my only real complaint (THAT THERE WASN'T MORE!). This was a great read at a great price--I recommend it highly.
